Dr Grordbort's Creator and Weta Senior Designer Greg Broadmore is being jetted over to Sunnyvale, California, at the end of this month as the Featured Speaker at the first ever Steampunk Convention in the San Francisco Bay area!

Among celebrity guests, this year including Doug Jones (Hellboy's Abe Sapien) and Margot Kidder (Lois Lane in the Superman films of he 1980's), there will of course as usual be a cosplay contest on the Monday.

Every year in Wellington, the New Zealand Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards Show is held, bringing together the most creative costume artists from New Zealand and the world.
This year, the people here at Weta have followed the goings-on with particular anticipation. One of our colleagues, whose day job is as a costume technician here in the Workshop, was selected to enter one of her creations in the contest.

Members of the New Zealand national pride, The All Blacks rugby team, visited the Weta Cave recently during a day of relaxation in preparation for a game.
Usually the biggest guys in any room, even these giants of the pitch appeared smallish next to our brute Lurtz, but when you consider that Lurtz is held aloft by a 12-inch plinth… you realize exactly the scale of visitors we're talking about here.
